Villain in this hand was pretty bad.  His stats were 68/55/3.3 and he was fighting for lots of pot.  Very loose-aggressive.  I was playing extremely loose, 3betting a lot so he was definitely defending my 3bets lightly.

Like I mentioned before, he was pretty donkish as you can see by his min-raise on the button.  My 3-bet to 400 is standard.  I had 3-bet a couple times in the last few hands and I thought he was probably starting to get a little frustrated so I wasn’t planning on folding postflop if I caught a decent piece of the board.

Cbetting this flop is standard.  Usually I would just fold to his min-raise on the flop but I really felt like he was ready to make a play and since I was getting such a good price I decided to call and hope for a good turn or for a check-down. His flop raising range is all strong hands, draws, and air. I don’t expect him to ever do this with a 3 or 7 though.

The turn is not really a great card for me and I planned on check/folding but he checked back. Lots of gutshots and straight draws are now ahead of me plus all of the hands that were already beating me. All of those hands would almost always bet the turn. I think it’s important to mention though that if he raised the flop with a hand like 89 (straight draw) and paired a nine, he would check back the turn with the intention of getting to showdown or value betting on a good river.

The river is a very good card for me. It is now much less likely that I have a 7 and at this point he knows I have to be very very weak. He bets $1250, an amount I would never expect to be a bluff by a good player but it could mean absolutely anything from a donk like him. The only mediocre hand I could see him value betting on the river is a pair of nines that he picked up with a hand like 89. He never raises the flop with a pair of sevens or threes, he would almost always bet the turn with a pair of tens or better, and I look really weak. With that said, 89 is the only hand he can show up with here a large portion of the time other than bluffs/missed draws. I call and he shows a bluff.
